Honey Butter Cornbread

Golden, buttery, and perfectly moist, this Dutch oven cornbread is the perfect companion to soups, chili, barbecue, and hearty comfort-food meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter, plus extra for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Lightly butter a Simmer Down Cookware Dutch oven.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared Dutch oven.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Brush the top with melted butter while warm for extra flavor and shine.
  9. Serve warm.
